The position
Charging for accessibility charges disabled children more than everybody else for the same education. So high contrast, calm mode, plain language, reduce motion and read-aloud are on the free plan permanently, and no future price change will move them.
What is in it
- Read aloud on questions, lessons and stories.
- High contrast and larger type throughout.
- Calm mode, which removes animation, celebration and sound.
- Reduce motion, following the system setting as well as its own.
- Plain language, which rewrites instructions into shorter sentences.
- No timers anywhere in the early years, and none that punish anywhere.
What is honestly not done yet
Every screen is built for a screen reader: labelled controls, a sensible reading order, and emoji given words rather than read out by their Unicode names. That is checked by automated tests on every change, and the tests are part of the build rather than something run before a release.
What we will not claim is a substitute for hearing from you. If you use VoiceOver or TalkBack and something reads wrongly, that is the report we most want: support@lightlearning.ca. It gets fixed first.
