Before it is earned
What is on it
- The child's name, as typed in Settings. It is stored on the device and nowhere else.
- The grade completed, in that country's own words: Kindergarten, Primary 3, Year 6, Creche and Nursery, whatever their school calls it.
- The full name of the curriculum, so it says which programme of studies was completed.
- The number of topics mastered, which is the real count from that grade.
- The date it was awarded.
How it is earned
Every topic in the grade has to be mastered, not attempted. Mastery means passing the check at the end of a topic at the threshold set for it, so a child cannot collect a certificate by tapping through.
The name line reads "your name here" until it is earned, and the topic line reads "topics to master" rather than "topics mastered". A reward you cannot see is not a reward, and a certificate that claims something that has not happened is worse than none.
Downloading and printing
An awarded certificate can be saved to the device as an image and printed at A4. It is drawn as vector artwork rather than a photograph, so it stays sharp at any size.
What it is not
It is not an accredited qualification and it does not come from an examination board. It is a record that a child finished a year's worth of topics in this app, which is a real thing to be proud of and is not a school report.
